3 - Medispa Treatment

Anti-wrinkle injections.

At Helena’s, anti-wrinkle injections are performed with extreme precision by our fully medically-trained team from Juv’ae. Working with us they offer over 10 years’ experience.

When choosing an injectable, it’s vital to select a physician experienced in anti-wrinkle cosmetic injections, to ensure the best possible results. At Helena’s, our cosmetic injectors focus only on anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers, which is why we are considered the experts in non-surgical solutions.

Anti-wrinkle injections provide a highly effective method of smoothing and plumping your skin, and are one of the most widely performed cosmetic treatments today. They work by blocking signals between the nerves and muscles, preventing muscles from contracting and forming lines on the surface of the skin. The result is fast and effective control of frown lines, wrinkles and fine lines. Anti-wrinkle injections are not a permanent solution, and further treatments are required periodically to maintain the effect.

The visible signs of every day stress, every period of grief, every love lost and every disappointment can literally be erased, with our anti-wrinkle injection formulations.

Dermal Fillers

Helena’s cosmetic injectors are experts in face contouring to achieve that healthy, youthful and natural aesthetic look. We use dermal fillers to artfully design the look you’ve always dreamed of.

That irresistible plumpness, vibrancy and abundance of a youthful face melts away over the many years of our lives. As our faces lengthen, we look more mature, and as we age even more, we lose so much volume of facial muscle, fat and tissue that the overlying skin sags and wrinkles.

Cosmetic fillers can be used to restore fullness to lips and cheeks with a natural-looking result, as well as providing volume in the chin, nose, jaw and hands. Dermal wrinkle fillers can be used like makeup to highlight certain features, and disguise dark circles. Here at Helena’s & in conjunction with Juv’ae, we promise to achieve that healthy, youthful and natural aesthetic look.

Dermal fillers are a powerful method for regaining a youthful complexion, minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, by creating volume in the inner layers of the skin. Dermal wrinkle fillers can be used like makeup to highlight certain features, and are also commonly used to treat darkness under the eyes.

With skillful application, and expertise we’ll have you looking just like yourself – only more positive, more alert, and all freshened up.

Diathermy.

Instant & gentle removal of broken capillaries, blood spots & skin tags

Diathermy is an advanced technique employed by our team of electrologists to reduce and or eliminate individual, surface capillaries, spider naevi, blood spots & skin tags on the face, neck, décolletage, & other delicate areas of the body. Diathermy utilises a heat current to cauterise the capillaries which lay in the epidermal (top) layers of the skin.

Some causes of damaged capillaries include sun exposure, harsh treatment of the skin, direct heat, excessive pressure, fine skin texture and couperose may be an inherited factor, leaving the skin sensitive to internal and external factors.

Cauterising the tiny surface veins with diathermy produces the best and most lasting results and usually 2 or 3 treatments are adequate, followed by check-ups every 2 to 3 years to treat newly developed veins. Subsequent treatments may be continued after 14 days from the initial treatment date, unless inflammation or sensitivity is still present in the area being treated. Your electrologist will advise you every step of the way, to ensure you receive an effective result.

Following your treatment, thorough care must be taken to ensure the treated area is kept moist to promote healing by continually apply Sterex Witch-hazel gel, for a minimum of 5 times per day for 7 days. Follow this with a thorough application of sunscreen.

Skin Tags

Skin tags are harmless fatty mole-like structures, which can easily be cauterised to leave you with perfectly smooth skin. Skin tags often occur on the neck, underarms, bikini area and bust line. The only effective way to deal with skin tags is to have them professionally removed. Helena’s team of electrologists specialise in the gentle and non-invasive removal technique with minimal discomfort.

Following your treatment, thorough care must be taken to ensure the treated area is kept moist to promote healing, by continually applying Sterex Witch-hazel gel for a minimum of 5 times per day for 7 days. Follow this with a thorough application of sunscreen in areas are exposed to sunlight. Healing time can take from 5-14 days.

Electrolysis.

The guaranteed method of permanent hair removal.

All areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis. Electrolysis is medically and scientifically proven to remove hair permanently, and has both T.G.A. and FDA approval. There are no permanent side effects, but a temporary slight reddening of the skin may occur. This original permanent hair reduction treatment works on all hair colours & skin types from the finest downy hairs to the strongest coarsest hairs, with equal ease and success.

Electrolysis destroys the growth center (papilla) of the hair with heat energy. After a very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, a current is applied killing the root of the hair allowing it to easily slide out of the follicle smoothly.

On consultation, you will be advised on the frequency and duration of the visits that will be required to achieve the outcome you desire. The treatment time will vary depending on the extent and density of hair as well as the area to be treated.

Electrolysis or IPL Hair Removal?

Helena’s Day Spa offers a variety of hair removal services. Waxing, tweezing, IPL and electrolysis. Often a combination of hair removal services works best. . Helena’s team of electrologists and IPL hair removal experts, will advise you as to which hair removal methods will be best suited to each area of concern

1. The official FDA clearance for electrolysis is “PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL” while for IPL hair removal is “PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION”.

2. In the very best of outcomes with IPL hair removal, there will be approximately 5% of hair left that will require electrolysis in order to be completely hair free.

3. IPL hair removal is best suited to very dark hair on very fair skin. Dark skin types pose a degree of risk. IPL hair removal is often considered to be mainly for large body areas whereas electrolysis is mainly considered best for the face, smaller areas, and left over sparse hairs after IPL hair removal.

LED – Advanced Non-Surgical Light Therapy

Helena’s Day Spa offers you an effective, painless, non-invasive, risk free, light therapy facial treatment which is safe on all skin types and needs absolutely no recovery time. LED light therapy does this by encouraging the skins natural renewal process and collagen production.

We utilise the most advanced light therapy system with PhotonLite LED technology. Photonlite is not just a monochromatic treatment (one colour), it has polychromatic programs using a variety of colours to attain additional benefits. The Photonlite has 1620 powerful light emitting diodes (LEDs), which allows a greater surface area to be treated more effectively. The multiple light wavelengths allow your therapist to target multiple layers within your skin, allowing us to treat your skin on multiple wave lengths for faster more personalised results, treating more than one skin concern simultaneously.

How does LED work?

LED is very different from lasers and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), which rely on thermal (heat) injury to the skin’s collagen, water or blood vessels to create changes in the skin’s appearance. The process by which light is emitted by the LED’s is similar to that of photosynthesis in plants. Simply put, LED light gets converted into energy, or more specifically, “ATP” (Adenosine Triphosphate). This is the form of energy that cells use to power the metabolic processes needed to repair or regenerate cell and tissue components and restore balance. Different wavelengths (colours) of the visible light spectrum (think the colours of the rainbow) act on different mechanisms within individual cells, for example: red to promote collagen growth; and violet-blue to help kill acne-causing bacteria. Depth of penetration is dependent on the wavelengths (nm), which has a direct bearing on the results achieved.

BENEFITS

  • Helps to maximise results faster when used in conjunction with other facial peels and skin treatments.
  • Kills acne causing bacteria and prevents acne from developing.
  • Helps to re-hydrate skin, reduce enlarged pores and rejuvenate the skin.
  • Assists in repairing sun damage.
  • 100% Chemical Free and Safe.

Cosmelan Intense De-pigmenting Peel.

WORLDS NUMBER 1 De-Pigmenting Treatment

The Cosmelan peel will be beneficial if you have tried to treat your hyperpigmentation with peels, laser, IPL and topical creams without success.                                                                                              This superior peel is designed to dramatically reduce the appearance of pigmentation, skin discoloration, scaring, age spots, hyper pigmentation and melasma, whilst increasing luminosity of the skin.                                                                                                                                                       Cosmelan has been used for years to produce the highest level of pigmentation reduction with the use of a topical formulation.

How does Cosmelan work?

The Cosmelan treatment works by decreasing the skin’s melanin production by inhibition of the enzyme tyrosinase. This type of peel is similar in function to a chemical or alpha hydroxy peel but is formulated to specifically treat pigmentation.
Compatible with all skin types, Cosmelan is a non-invasive, easy and very effective corrective treatment for pigmentation imperfections caused by sun-damage, ageing, acne, scarring and dermal pigmentation. The skin will improve from the second week of treatment with significant lightening, reduction or disappearance of dark spots from the third or fourth week of treatment. The stimulation of capillary circulation gives the new skin a luminous, healthy appearance.

Cosmelan Peel Ingredients

Unlike hydroquinone and tretinoin, which can be harsh on the skin and cause a number of unpleasant side effects as they treat hyperpigmentation issues, a Cosmelan peel contains azelaic acid, which kills bacteria on the surface of the skin and boosts new skin cell production; and kojic acid, which is an acid that is derived from several different types of naturally-existing fungi and which inhibits the production of melanin in the skin.

When the Cosmelan peel is applied to the skin, it inhibits further pigmentation from taking place. The cream that is applied after the mask is removed contains both kojic and phytic acid, which is an antioxidant that helps to heal the skin and protect it after treatment. Since a Cosmelan peel can take several hours and then requires aftercare, you should take this into consideration when booking in your treatment.

Cosmelan Peel Treatment & Side Effects

While this peel is not as harsh as those that contain alpha hydroxy acids or hydroquinone, you may experience redness, tightening of the skin, and peeling. Your skin therapist will advise you how to manage this best, based on your unique skins needs.

The treatment consists of a mask applied in clinic and remains on your skin for 8 to 12 hours, depending on your skin’s condition. The mask is washed off at home and you may expect 3 to 5 days of light to heavy peeling, redness and sensitivity. After the peeling subsides your skin appears brighter, clearer, smoother and visibly younger.

Mesoe’clat Peel

The result is a rejuvenating effect that brightens and revitalizes the face, leaving the skin softer and clearer.

Mechanism of Action

Acne Clear Treatment.

Intensive para-medical system for acne prone skin.

Effective and rapid acne solution for intensive topical treatment of acne-prone and seborrheic skin.

Deeply cleanses and decongests blocked pores, removing impurities and improving the skins texture, promoting optimal skin health. The Acne Clear system offers a cross-cutting approach to address the various factors that trigger the disease, combining an intensive clinical treatment for professional use with a home care treatment comprising a complete range of specialised acne clearing products.

Acne vulgaris is caused by an androgen excess that promotes an increase in keratinization and follicular peeling, as well as sebum secretion. This in turn triggers obstruction of the skin pore and subsequent inflammation through the opportunistic action of bacterial flora present on the skin, giving rise to the typical acne lesions in the form of comedones, papules, pustules and residual hyperpigmentation.

This deep cleansing series of treatments will address the cause and not just the symptoms by gently and effectively cleansing the skins surface and removing acne impurities. This will allow your skin to heal and recover with fast effective manageable and maintainable results.

Para-medical Peels and Facials

Helena’s Day Spa offers a variety of selected peels to treat a variety of skin concerns and conditions on various levels. Below is some information on the carefully selected professional facial peels available at Helena’s. Your therapist will design each and every skin treatment to treat and address your skin as it changes and progresses with every visit, achieving the most effective results for you and your skin.

Papaya Enzyme Peel with Pomegranate, Blueberry and Kiwi

Our natural alternative to chemical peels.

One of the most popular non-invasive procedures performed to rejuvenate and revitalise the appearance of the skin. With little or no downtime the Papaya Enzyme peel offers a virtually risk-free, results-driven therapy for a wide array of skin conditions, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne, acne scaring, hyperpigmentation, dry or flaky skin and many more.

A specially chosen blend of eight active ingredients selected for their potency and simultaneous gentle mechanisms of action. Unlike traditional chemical peels that induce skin peeling in order to reveal new and unblemished skin underneath. The Papaya Enzyme peel contains papain, a naturally derived enzyme that ‘digests’ the topical dead skin cells to reveal your more youthful brighter, clearer radiant glowing skin. The natural enzymatic action ensures that the skin is left radiant, with no visible peeling, irritation or downtime.

EyePeel

Ultra gentle solution for the delicate eye area.

With fewer sebaceous glands than the rest of the face, the eye area is the first place to show signs of ageing, with a reduction in tone and plumpness and an increase in fine lines and wrinkles.

Our Eye peel is formulated with a collection of gentle AHAs including L-Mandelic, Lactobionic and L-Lactic acids to ensure we achieve an effective exfoliation, with even penetration, and without any inflammation or irritation to this delicate eye area. The long term benefits include an enhanced cell turnover and regeneration of skin cells to thicken, strengthen and plump the eye area. L-Lactic acid and Lactobionic acid have the added benefit of hydrating the skin during this gentle peeling process, which aids in plumping and smoothing out of the skin. We recommend you target a series of 6 treatments in order to maximise your results.

Glycolic Peel

Glycolic is derived from sugar cane & is the most frequently used AHA’s.

It is highly efficient for controlling and reactivating skin cells. It encourages cellular regeneration and increases moisture levels in the epidermis and reinforces the skins natural barrier function.

This peel is beneficial for smoothing out rough texture, evening out skin tone, fading away acne scars and pigmented spots, eliminating blackheads and detoxing the pores. Generally, there is little to no downtime involved with this peel.

Lactic acid Peel

Suitable for even the most sensitive skins.

Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) derived from sour milk. Lactic acid stimulates the production of new collagen and has a natural moisturizing effect on the skin. With intense hydration power this peel attracts water molecules to the inner layers of the skin, leaving it plumper and more hydrated. Stimulating ceramide synthesis and modulating the skins’ barrier function, the lactic peel treats pigmentation, uneven skin tone, sun damage and ageing.

Mandelic Peel

Naturally derived from bitter almond extract.

Designed to provide deep exfoliation with minimal irritation to the skin, the Mandelic peel treats problematic, congested and acne prone skins. This almond based peel will unblock and refine open pores, eliminate excess oil, treat acne, reduce pigmentation, smooth out the texture of the skin whilst evening out skin tone, all with minimal disruption to the regular skin function.

Salicylic acid Peel

Derived from willow bark & ideal for acne, oily skin and pigmentation.

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxyl acid (BHA) derived from willow bark. It has powerful anti inflammatory and anti microbial effects. It enables the breakdown of sebum and encourages superficial skin resurfacing without producing inflammation. Salicylic acid penetrates deeper than other acids, allowing for it to diminish inflammatory acne, control sebaceous secretion, reduce pore size and even out overall skin tone. Salicylic acid peels are not recommended for people with aspirin allergies or sensitivity. Generally, there is little to no downtime involved with this peel.

Modified Jessner Peel

All in one combination peel.

The Jessner peel is a superior treatment specifically designed to target different concerns at once. The Jessner peel consists of mild peeling agents that can be used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation, treat sun damaged, mild and severe acne, acne scaring, dark spots, dull skin tone and fine lines and wrinkles.

The modified Jessner peel is designed to improve more extensive skin damage than an AHA peel can provide. This peel can be performed in a single layer for a superficial exfoliation or in multiple layers for a deeper exfoliation. Your therapist will determine the depth of peeling to suit your particular skin concern. The main active ingredients include Salicylic acid which is derived from willow bark; lactic acid from sour milk, and citric acid from citrus fruits. The combination of these three acids achieves dramatic results. Due to the strength of this peel, there may be a short downtime associated with it.
